Oppression and God

“Crossing of the Red Sea” by Poussin

The cry of the oppressed reaches God (Exodus 3:9a).

He sees your oppressors oppressing you (Exodus 3:9b).

Therefore, he gave you Jesus (Exodus 3:10; Luke 4:18–19).

He died to pay for sins (1 Peter 2:24), and to defeat Satan (Colossians 2:15).

He protects us while in this world (Revelation 12:6-13ff).

At the same time, His Spirit indwells and enables us to serve the accomplishment (1 Corinthians 12:13; Luke 24:46-49; Acts 1:8) of “our Father[’s]… will… on earth as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:10)

Though perfection can solely be on His second coming, we pray and work by His Spirit’s grace and power towards holistic individual and societal renewal (Matthew 5:13-16).
