Welcome to my blog!
My full name is Rev. Glimar Barbado Melo. Most people call me Pastor Glem. I am a believer-follower of Jesus Christ. I am married to beautiful Aymi, and have 3 wonderful kids: Yanan, Giona and Rosh. We are members/partners of Park Community Church in Chicago.
I am the founder and president of Open Eyes Mission, ministering as New Hope Global in the U.S.; a church planter in the predominantly Muslim neighborhoods of Devon/Little India in Chicago, in partnership with Redeemer City to City, the Chicago Partnership for Church Planting, Park Community Church, and other gospel-centered churches and ministries in Chicagoland; and a Master of Theological Studies (MTS) and Master of Divinity (M.Div.) student at Mid-America Reformed Seminary.
For 17 years (from 1998 to 2015) in the Philippines, with co-laborers and partners, I planted 4 churches in Roman Catholic areas, trained and deployed 2 church planting teams to Muslim areas, taught and trained hundreds of pastors and missionaries, served more than 1,000 children-at-high-risk and their families, and provided relief, rehabilitation, counseling, and Bible study ministries to more than 3,000 survivors of killer typhoons. And as Northern Mindanao Director of Asian Center for Missions (ACM), I trained more than 130 Filipino missionaries and facilitated the deployment of more than 35 of my trainees to China, Pakistan, and other restricted-access countries in Asia.
Today, my family and I are engaged in Muslim evangelism and house church planting ministry in the Devon/Little India neighborhoods of Chicago.
At the same time, through multimedia and internet-based tools, I continue to provide leadership, teaching, and ministry to 2 new church plants; am training 1 new church planter; and conduct classes on theology and ministry in 4 churches — 3 in the Philippines and 1 in Beirut, Lebanon.
The Bible teaches that God is real, we are sinful, hell is real, and Jesus is our only hope of salvation.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)
I believe these truths with all of my heart, and I hope to help others learn of them as well. If you have questions or comments, please do not hesitate to e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
May God give you grace and peace.
