God’s Kingdom Citizens For the Oppressed, Against their Oppressors

Eleventh century fresco of the Exorcism at the Synagogue in Capernaum

2,000 years ago, Jesus announced the arrival-inauguration of God’s kingdom/reign on earth, in him (Mark 1:15).

God’s kingdom is yet to come in its fullness and perfection on Christ’s second coming.  Yet it is already with us today.  Sincere believers in Jesus are in it.  And it is superabundant in grace and power.

Jesus came to proclaim the good announcement/news (gospel) to the poor and everyone, heal those who are not well, free those who are oppressed and/or enslaved to a spiritual and/or human dark power/s (Luke 4:18–21), train disciples (5:10–11), “seek and save those whose lives have been ruined” (19:10, translation mine), suffer and die for us to be rescued and blessed under the new covenant (22:19–20), rise again (9:22; 18:33; 24:46), rule heaven and the whole universe, and expand his freedom and healing mission worldwide through the ministry of his believers-followers (24:47–51).

United to Jesus by faith, indwelt and empowered by his Holy Spirit, we proclaim the gospel of freedom and victory in him, rebuke and cast out evil powers and principalities, set their captives free, minister healing and renewal to all who trust and surrender their whole lives to him…
