Inaugurated Universal Emperor Jesus Era

Most probably, believers/saints in the Old Testament took the “helper” (ezer, עֵזֶר) in Psalm 121:1 to be the Messiah, who was yet to come, at that time and era. And rightly so.

Living in New Testament times, we believe and confess that Jesus is LORD (YHWH, יְהוָֹה), the covenant King/Emperor of ancient Israel and the whole cosmos.

God our Father and Jesus our Emperor gave us the Holy Spirit as our helper* (paraklétos, παράκλητος, John 14:16, 26).

Let all who are united to Jesus by faith be filled with the Holy Spirit, live, and serve dunamically (eschatologically-powerfully) through Him, as befitting the Lord and His inaugurated kingdom era.

The Holy Spirit helps us to dunamically:

  • Overcome sin in and outside of us.
  • Overcome Satan, all his demons (evil spirits), and all his human allies (e.g., Xi, Putin, Trump, etc.)
  • Serve with God’s people (repentant Christians, churches) in gospel proclamation, disciple-making, church planting, etc.
  • Serve the oppressed poor.
  • Help renew the world, society/ies.

* Notes:

Eve (“woman, wife” [ishshah, אִשָּׁה, feminine] in Genesis 2:22–25) was the God-given “helper” (ezer, עֵ֖זֶר, masculine, 2:18, 20) for Adam.

Was Eve a type and shadow of the Holy Spirit, in the same way that Adam was a type and shadow of Jesus? I believe so.

Psalm 121 points to Jesus as YHWH (יְהוָֹה), and the Holy Spirit as our eschatological–dunamical ezer (עֵזֶר).

“Our [Holy Spirit] comes from [Emperor Jesus], who made the heavens and earth” (121:2, translation mine).
