Dear African American, Latinx, and other believers in Jesus,
Rmbracing Bis gifts, we carry an immense responsibility before God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
From a strictly Christian perspective, we do not belong to any earthly faction or power. As Scripture reminds us, “Neither,” says the Commander of the LORD’s army (Joshua 5:14). We belong to Christ alone—Solus Christus—and we are accountable to Him above all.
Let us begin here:
The history of African American Christianity is not peripheral. It is foundational to understanding—and evaluating—the claims of White Evangelical Christianity. One tradition emerged under oppression, clinging to Jesus for survival and liberation. The other largely developed alongside power, protection, and racial hierarchy. These histories matter. They shape theology, ethics, and witness.
Therefore, wisdom and discernment are required.
I encourage all believers to pause partnerships and alliances with those who are increasingly revealing themselves not simply as white, but as “White”—that is, committed to racialized power, domination, and exclusion rather than to the way of Christ.
Due caution is very highly advised. Four people have already been killed in incidents involving federal agents
