Last January 2-3, we visited worst-hit and wiped-out Barangay Andap in New Bataan, Compostela Valley province. The National Institute of Geological Sciences (NIGS) at the University of the Philippines (UP) reports:

IMG_5025“What was once the center of Barangay Andap in New Bataan, Compostela Valley province is now a new riverbed with an estimated width of nearly a kilometer stretching up to eight kilometers down to the town proper. Typhoon Pablo brought flashflood in this town on Tuesday, leaving over a hundred persons killed and hundreds still missing.”

3We served 45 families, all members of 3 evangelical churches in the area. With no more homes and their properties “buried in a pile of rocks the size of boulders” (NIGS), they all now live in an evacuation center. They literally lost everything, including their Bibles. We encouraged them with God’s word, prayer and the distribution of new Bibles, rice, food and hygiene…
