By God’s grace and providence, as part of a medical team from Cebu, I was privileged to minister through debriefing and Gospel sharing to almost a thousand people living in the old garbage dump community in Barangay Macabug, Ormoc City, Leyte. Based on what I heard in our multiple sessions, I would say that 80% of them lost their homes totally due to Super Typhoon Haiyan/Yolanda. Many of them make a living by scavenging. The children are mostly malnourished. Six-year-olds look like two-year-olds.
