CHRIST AND COVENANT – Part 1
The Message of Genesis 15:1-20

In Genesis 15, the Lord comforted and strengthened Abraham with His covenant word and covenant ceremony. And we see that the covenant ceremony (verses 7-17) is sandwiched by God’s reaffirmations of His promise of offspring (verses 1-6 and 18-20). This tells us that the substance of the covenant is the offspring that God promised to give to Abraham. The Lord Jesus Christ is the promised offspring (John 8:56; Galatians 3:6-8; Galatians 3:16). He is the fulfillment, substance, and blessing of the covenant. In Him, we have eternal and undying comfort and strength amidst all trials and tribulations.
