Worst U.S. President, threat-to-national-security Donald Trump has approved a preliminary 30-year nuclear cooperation agreement with Saudi Arabia, according to two people familiar with the decision.

The agreement:

• could enable the kingdom to develop uranium enrichment capabilities for a civilian nuclear energy program

• could be made public as early as Wednesday

• is expected to involve U.S. companies in developing Saudi Arabia’s civilian nuclear infrastructure

• envisions a joint U.S.-Saudi study that could pave the way for the construction of a uranium enrichment facility within the kingdom

• is likely to draw international scrutiny because enrichment technology can have both civilian and weapons-related applications.
