And behold, a voice from heaven said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.” (Matthew 3:17)

Adam was God’s son. He disobeyed God.

Israel was God’s son. Like Adam, Israel disobeyed God.

Jesus is the new Adam and the new Israel. He perfectly obeyed God and pleased Him 100%. This qualified Him for His messianic work and ministry. Right after His baptism, God Himself declared Him to be His perfect Son – the only One – and sent Him to defeat satan and to restore wayward Israel and the world. That He accomplished through His life, death, resurrection and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. He is our Messiah – our king, prophet-teacher and priest-savior – from God.

Do you recognize that, like Adam and Israel, you are a sinner, a covenant-breaker under God’s just judgment and condemnation?

Do you believe in Jesus, God’s one and only obedient Son, the Messiah in whom alone there is forgiveness, salvation and eternal life?

Christ is the only One, the only way, our only hope. Forsake doubt and unbelief. Believe.
